You have me at a bit of a disadvantage since I am travelling this week and don't have my copy with me and it's been probably 20 years ago since I read it. But I would agree with your comments and criticism re their argument that because of discounting of the future the fundamentalist doesn't have a chance.<BR/><BR/>I actually think while there is a bit to Dow Theory (in that it will often clue you in to an overall downturn versus just a sector downturn), it is actually the weakest part of the book. When you get to the discussion on individual stocks, you will see where supply and demand analysis comes into play, with "head and shoulders" formations and the like. (The Marchand Sage book may help you understand the psychological perspective on why support and resistance levels occur.)<BR/><BR/>A note on my travels: I'm in Boston and they must be readng your blog, since many here are attempting to answer Gene's question on why some side doors are locked. The Four Seasons has a note on one of its locked doors: "Please use other door do to to inclement weather."
