What Do These Songs Have in Common?

Help Me Rhonda, Sloop John B, I Get Around, Wouldn't It Be Nice, California Girls, Little Green Apples, The Way We Were, Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You, Suspicious Minds, Wichita Lineman, Last Train To Clarksville, Homeward Bound, I Am A Rock, Scarborough Fair, River Deep, Mountain High, Love Child, Baby Love, Stop In The Name Of Love, Back In My Arms Again, You Can't Hurry Love, Midnight Confessions, Light My Fire?

  1. Carol Kaye on bass.

  2. How did you get that?

  3. I grew up on most of those songs and picked up the thread somewhere. I don't recall exactly. In any case, her story is one I use now and then as a great example of an unsung female legend.

  4. antiahithophel I accidentally deleted your comment, so I paste it in here:

"Dr. Callahan, you recently chided -- albeit ever so gently -- a commenter for not using the power of Google and Wikipedia to research his point.

"I don't know if Neverfox did this, but if you copy and paste the songs into Google, the first link is: "Bass Hits: the official Carol Kaye website."

    But that's cheating!

  5. There were enough Glen Campbell tracks to fool me. Like, I did NOT know that he played on "River Deep, Mountain High" until just now.
