Aleph-null bleg
I am trying to write א-null in HTML, with a zero subscript, but...
It seems that the right-to-left convention for Hebrew writing somehow overrides the actual order in which I type the HTML code, and the zero subscript appears on the web page before the aleph.
Does anyone have any idea how to get this ordered properly?

I think you need to set the CSS direction and unicode-bidi attributes of the text the Hebrew letter appears in, but I haven't dealt with this myself.
ReplyDeleteYou’re using the wrong aleph. Use the mathematical character: ℵ.
ReplyDeleteSubscript zero is ₀. Hence ℵ₀.
For completeness, you would enclose the string in span dir="ltr" (obviously using angle brackets, which might or might not render here even if escaped, so I’m not going to bother).
Thanks! But I don't understand once I have the math char why I'd need the span.
DeleteUse "ℵ" (which is the math symbol) rather than "א" (which is the Hebrew letter).
ReplyDeleteThanks Shonk!

Thanks, but using the math aleph is more straightforward.
