Trials Are Good for Starting "Useful Conversations"
I heard John McWhorter of The New Republic today talking about the Zimmerman trial, and he said the a conviction could lead to a "useful conversation" about race in the United States. Well, that very nice, but... Shouldn't the matter of whether Zimmerman is, you know, guilty, enter into the matter of whether it would be good to convict him?
