  1. Beautiful buildings like this always serve to remind me how far architecture has fallen in recent decades. Much of modernist architecture seems to proceed on the assumption that hideousness is intrinsically valuable, and must be pursued at all costs. (According to Wikipedia, this atrocity is "regarded as one of the finest examples of the functionalist aesthetic and a masterpiece of corporate modernism.")
