Don't jump to conclusions! He might be a very public-minded student: he might have supplied the Yahoo Answers answer after having answered the question for the assignment! He's doing a public service!

ReplyDeleteS/he used the word "purported." Immediately, I thought, "No way this student knows what 'purported' means!"
DeleteThat is a credit upon you, that you know your students that well. Then again, it could be the case that most of your students don't know what "purported" means. For some reason I cannot completely discount the latter.
