Fascinating Polling Data
Well, fascinating at least for me: here. Every single Republican candidate trails Obama in a head-to-head match up. But when Obama is compared to "a Republican," he loses! People aren't thrilled with Obama, and would be willing to elect a Republican, so long as it isn't any of the actual Republicans whom they might really have to choose amongst.
This system is so screwy. Imagine for the moment that you are a conservative Republican who listens to Rush Limbaugh. Obama has just been awful; you're thinking he's Carter to the next Reagan. And yet, at this point it looks like your candidate is going to be either a guy who sat on a couch with Pelosi talking about climate change, or a guy who introduced the precursor to ObamaCare into his state as governor.
ReplyDeleteAnd this is the system you think is good enough to send abroad with bombs.
When you say "you," are you using that as the general "you," or do you mean me in particular?
ReplyDeleteCome on, Gene. He said imagine you're a conservative Republican ditto-head. He's obviously speaking from that perspective. Also, it's fairly obvious that Bob isn't implying that you (personally) would want to bomb people to spread democracy, as I think all three of us have similar opinions on that matter.
ReplyDeleteI'll let it slide this time, but if it happens again... :)
Ah, I see. I usually just skim anything bob writes, so I missed the "imagine you are" part!
DeleteWhat's funny is that I had gone away from this thread, and then come back, and I was shocked by how much it sounded like I was yelling at Gene too. (I.e. I just skimmed my first comment and missed the, "Imagine for the moment...")
